What's up in my world

Hey Ya'll!
Just checking in. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Me and my family did. We traveled to Ohio and Mississippi to see everyone. It's good to be back home though.

I've been busy as usual writing songs. I'm also getting ready to go back in the studio with David Bradley and Nikki Z to record some more music for their upcoming CD's. I also finished up mixing 3 new tunes that feature Hot Apple Pie. They're kickin'! Those tracks will be on my next CD... hope you dig 'em.

I've also been busy being a dad, and I love it! Evan's doing good even though he's got his first little cold right now.

My wife Lisa's got her new website up and running. She's doing a lot of voiceover work here lately. I had fun designing her site. Check it out when you get the chance!

I'm doing some acoustic shows coming up in Nashville this month. If you're around come on out!

Evan Update

Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to give you an update on Evan. He's doing great! He's been growing, and gained a pound. Lisa and I make up songs all the time to sing to him and he seems to love it. If one day he sings with as much power as some of his cries he'll be in good shape. I've attached a picture of me and Evan, it's my favorite so far.

Evan James is here!

Evan James Seals was born September 15th at 6:03 weighing 8 pounds. He was 21 1/4 inches long. He's got a beautiful head of hair and big feet! Takes after his daddy. He's healthy and passed his exams. Thank the Lord. I can't tell you how amazing this experience has been for me. I never dreamed that having a baby would open up my heart the way it has. My wife did great through the laboring and is recovering well.
Thanks for all the thoughtful comments and prayers. A star is born!

Getting Ready

My wife's doctor said she could have our baby within the next 2 weeks! I can't believe it. Her actual due date is September 14th. We've been getting ready for the little one. He's going to be a boy and his name is going to be Evan James. I've attached several pictures of the preparation!

Other than the baby stuff I've been writing up a storm and producing. I've moved my studio over to The Musicians Hall of Fame. I love it over there and get to see my friends Joe a Linda Chambers who own and operate the museum. If you get a chance go through it sometime, it's really fascinating.

I've also been lining up some solo shows. If you're around town come on out and see me. It's good to get back to performing live. Relentless

Hey Everybody!
I thought I'd offer up a new song called Relentless until the new Hot Apple Pie CD comes out. It's a song Stan Lynch and I wrote a few months back. We had a ball in the studio and I think that comes across when you listen to it. I'd love to know what you think about it. The Process

I've been hard at work trying to prepare for Hot Apple Pie's new CD. I've been writing non-stop! Last week me, Keith and Kevin got together with Stan Lynch to play and record some demos that Stan and I wrote. It was a blast! If you're not familiar with Stan he was an original member of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer! Not only a great player but a great guy.
We recorded at 16 Ton Studios in Nashville. The place has got a great vibe. In the lounge there's a jukebox that Johnny Cash used to own. Danny the owner said that it still has some 45 records that Johnny himself installed.
The musical direction for this next record is yet to be determined. We just want to record some killer music and not worry about it so much.

I'm sure some of you saw that Hot Apple Pie is playing CMA Fest this year. We'll be playing two places. One is at the Sommet stage on Broadway, the other is at a little club that GAC is renting out. The club is on Wednesday and the Sommet stage is on Friday. We haven't played live in a while so we're excited about it. We're scheduled to do some autograph signing in Digital Rodeo's booth and GAC's booth. Personally I've been doing some writer nights with some friends of mine and that's been a ball too, but it'll be good to get back together with the band.

I'm also going in the studio to produce some demos with Nikki Z. She's getting ready to get her website and myspace up and running. I'll let you know when that happens so you can check it out.

I've got two other artists (David Bradley and Larry Berrio) that I'm producing and their projects will be out later this year too.

Last but most importantly I'm going to be a dad in September! It'll be the thrill of my life. We moved out the mattress yesterday for the crib. Oh and by the way... it's going to be a boy.

Last Night

Hey Everyone,
The show last night at The Listening Room in Franklin, TN went great! I wish everyone could’ve been there. Inside Music Row TV show was there. NIXA Country also broadcasted the performance over the internet. Thanks to Greg Friia for having me as a guest. Just wanted to let everybody know that I’m looking forward to coming to your town soon. Hot Apple Pie has got some great things planned, we just have to get all of the details worked out.

Busy, busy, busy

I’ve gotten a lot of emails asking what I’ve been up to so here goes...

I’m producing 3 new artists.

Nikki Z
David Bradley
Larry Berrio

I’m going in next week and cutting tracks on David. He’s really super talented guy from the U.K. We’re recording 3 songs from a CD that he put out oversees. Check out his website

Nikki Z is a brand new artist that’s 16 years old. We’re currently writing and finding songs for her first demo session. I have plans on shopping a record deal for her. She’s so freakin’ good! She looks like a super model and sings like Joss Stone!

Larry Berrio is from Canada, Ontario to be exact. In fact he goes by Larry Berrio from Ontario. I’m co-producing his next CD with a friend of mine Gil Grand who’s had major success in Canada. Some of the guys that play in Jason Aldean’s band are playing on the session. It should be a ball!

I’ve also started an artist development company called Opportune Music. When you get a chance check out the temporary website. I’m also heading up the A&R division of CO5.

Other than that I’ve been extremely busy writing songs for Hot Apple Pie. We’ve got some exciting things in the works that I can’t tell you about just yet but it looks like "The Pie" is reviving itself.

Austin Trip



I just got back from Austin a couple of nights ago and had a great time. I went down there on behalf of NSAI and spoke on song writing, A&R and artist development at the Austin Songwriters Group Symposium.
My wife came with me and we had a great time. We met a lot of wonderful ASG members and hopefully I helped answer a few of their questions about the biz. Lee Duffy was the event host and she was so hospitable. I hope they ask me back next year.
We made some friends while we were there Monte Warden and his wife Brandy and Bill and Ruth Carter. We went for a jog with Monte and Brandy and they were kind enough to lend us jogging shorts and socks and even went by the shoe store so we could buy some new running shoes. Great people!

While we were there we did some sightseeing too. We visited the Zilker Botanical Garden, Barton Springs, Sixth Street, and the Austin capital building. I took Lisa by La Zona Rosa cafe. Some of you might remember that from the Little Texas days in the song Amy's Back In Austin.
And boy did we eat our fill of authentic Mexican food too. Mmmm!
